An Autumnal Outing With the mild weather set to continue, what better way to get out for an Autumn afternoon than on your bike? This ride is a clockwise circuit of 12 miles to the north of Shipston. We’ll set off from the car park by the river at 1.30pm to make the most of the daylight. The half way stop for tea/coffee and cake will be at The Halford Arms. The ride takes in the villages around Shipston on lightly trafficked roads. The trees are losing their leaves rapidly now, so we may well have some slippery roads to beware of if there has been significant rain. Winter tyres would be best if you have the choice. Mostly level and easy paced, there is a pull up from Halford to Idlicote, but nothing too arduous, and we can always get off and walk. The open Autumn fields make the countryside seem wider for lovely views across the Stour Valley. We should be back in Shipston by 3.45pm. Check the weather forecast beforehand and come suitably clad, with your bike (especially your brakes) in good working order. A properly fitted helmet is recommended, but not compulsory.
