Bike in the shed? Would you like to use it again to keep-fit and active? Then come and join in with like-minded people? Active Medway cycling groups are designed for you. We use experienced and fully qualified British Cycling ride leaders to create a friendly and welcoming environment. What's the route like? The route we use has been designed to involve a little bit of everything from learning the correct usage of cycle pathways to the feel of riding through a local village centre. The route has a few "shortcuts" to cater for how you are feeling on the day and to relieve the pressures associated with cycling in a group of mixed abilities. During the winter months we are using a route with added little extras such as an optional steep hill, a flat mile to pedal as fast as you can and every ones favourite, a long down hill totalling almost a mile and a half. What about parking my car? All our rides are circular. There is ample free car parking available with CCTV for peace of mind. The bonus with these rides starting and finishing at one of Medway's leisure centres, you can use the facilities such as the swimming pool or showers after for a discounted fee. I haven't checked for squeaks and creaks, will my bicycle be suitable? Active Medway are committed to enjoyable bike rides and safety is always top of our list. We recommend that if you have any doubt regarding the roadworthiness of your bicycle, best pop it along to a local bike shop to be checked. This will give you peace of mind and make riding your bicycle a lot more enjoyable and fun. My children want to come, are they allowed? Sorry, only over 16’s allowed on rides. Active Cycle Group has been designed to encourage adults to regain their confidence to cycle and get active. I don’t have a helmet, can I still come along? We require all our riders to wear one. No Helmet No Ride. I have a helmet and have road tested my bicycle. Am I ready? Yes, you are! Come along to our Active Medway cycling group and make new friends and cycling buddies. Most of all come and get fit and active in a constantly changing environment. How much is the membership? All our rides are free of charge. Come along - cycling has a lot offer every 2nd and 4th Sunday in the month.
