Hello and welcome to Gateway Wheelers

We are a cycling community group and British Cycling Limitless Focus Club for anyone who needs to use an accessible cycle due to having a disability, This can include but not limited to: - learning disabilities, autism, ADHD, balance problems, eyesight problems, brain injuries, strokes, complex health needs etc.

Gateway Wheelers was started in 1996 by the father of a child with disabilities who was frustrated by the lack of facilities and accessible cycles available for his son to ride. We grew quickly and in 2000 became a registered charity.

Based in Houghton Rectory Park (DH4 4BB) Houghton -le-Spring we cycle around the traffic free track on Houghton Rectory Playing Field, 6 times around equals a mile.

We cycle on Mondays, Wednesday, and Fridays and our cycling sessions last about an hour.

We have a wide range of accessible cycles available for all ages including go-karts, trikes, bucket seat bike, wheelchair bike, tandem, KMC trikes, Ice E-Trike and more.

To be able to use our cycles you will need to become a Gateway Wheelers Member, A yearly membership of £10 is payable on your second visit (first visit free and membership forms can be completed then).
