A Westerly loop from Roseburn Park

From Roseburn Park we follow the shared path behind Murrayfield Stadium towards Balgreen where we cross the road, taking the left-hand fork along the tram path which leads all the way to Edinburgh Park Station.

Staying on shared paths, we skirt around the proposed Edinburgh Arena site to reach Loch Ross. We then pass through the Gyle Centre to reach the path beside the railway leading to South Gyle Station. Here we must dismount and push our bikes over the temporary pedestrian bridge to reach the other side of the railway.

We make a short loop around Gyle Park before making our way to the crossing at Meadowplace Road, through Broomhall and Ladiebridge to Dovecot Road, Meadowhouse Road and onward to join the Pinkhill Railway path. This leads us back past Balgreen tram stop where we retrace our route back to Roseburn Park.

We'll stop for refreshments either at Patina near Loch Ross or at the Dower House in St Margaret's Park.

Helmets are recommended. Bring a payment card or cash if you wish to buy any refreshments at our stop. Bring a bike lock if you have one, but don’t worry if you don’t as we can lock bikes to each other. Also bring a spare inner tube if you can and have planned a means of getting home in the event of mechanical breakdown (taxi, phone a friend etc).
