A steady ride from Arkley to Ridge, along quiet country lanes. There is a bridleway en route, weather permitting, which is suitable for all bikes except road bikes with skinny tyres. This ride is for women who have done some beginner rides and would like to venture further afield with a little more exertion. The countryside here is undulating – there are some hills but we will take it steady with no one left behind. Walk if you need. You'll be rewarded with lovely views, an ice-cream farm stop on the way back and a well-earned drink at the end!
We will be riding mostly quiet country roads with one bridleway, and there is a step-free bridge crossing the A1. There are potholes on some roads.
There will be a stop at Lewis of London ice-cream farm on the way back, and at the Arkley pub at the end.
Do check your bike is sound before setting out, that brakes and gears work and the tyres have sufficient pressure. Bring water, cash for the ice-cream farm/pub, a bike lock and a spare inner tube in case of punctures. Snacks, too, if you think you'll be hungry before we finish, and a light jacket/layers if it's cooler
First-timers welcome!
