A Trail of Two Cities

The neighbouring cities of Manchester and Salford, sharing a great industrial heritage, now play host to the more recently developed Media City in Salford Quays and Sports City in Eastlands. This 18 mile circular route follows the Fallowfield loop from Debdale to Chorlton, before picking up National Cycle Network (NCN) Route number 55 through to Salford Quays. From here, the route takes in spectacular views along the Manchester Ship Canal into Manchester City Centre. Then it’s up the Rochdale Canal and Ashton Canal tow paths through to Sports City, before heading back to Debdale along NCN Route number 60. The variety of terrain makes this ride unsuitable for road bikes, although there will be a few on-road stretches along the way.
