Scapegoat Hill, Huddersfield

This is a simply stunning route showcasing the best of the Kirklees area from the highest viewpoints. Starting in Scapegoat Hill this is a hilly, varied and rewarding ride. The route offers great views of the Colne and Holme Valleys plus many local landmarks, including the Standedge Tunnel Visitor Centre at Marsden which is the longest, highest and deepest canal tunnel in the UK.  This makes a great place to have a bit of a breather and refreshments before commencing on your adventure. Carrying onwards, and upwards, in the distance you will see Holme Moss - on the route of the 2014 Tour De France - you won’t be tackling this giant but instead will encounter one or two short climbs of your own!  You really will need to bring your cycling legs for this route, as it is one of our more challenging routes but for anybody who does, you will not be disappointed!

This ride uses part of National Cycle Network (NCN) route 68. To find out more about the NCN and other great places to cycle near you everyday, go to the Sustrans website (http://www.sustrans.org.uk/ncn/map/national-cycle-network).
