From Broompark picnic area we will cycle up the Deerness Valley Railway line to Stanley Crook where we will visit the Stanley Moss Nature reserve. Here we will spend around an hour exploring the site before descending on Wolsingham Road to Brancepeth for coffee at the Castle cafe.
After this we will return to Broompark along the Bishop-Brandon lines.

A chance to discover one of County Durham’s last remaining areas of bog land in lowland Durham. Come and explore the nature reserve with our ecologist, Julia

Mainly on cycle path with a short stretch on quiet unclassified road.

We will stop at Stanley Miss Nature reserve and the cafe at Brancepeth Castle on the return journey.

Helmets are always advisable as is clothing suitable for the weather and footwear suitable for walking around a bog. Please bring snacks, just in case there are problems with the cafe stop

We never leave anyone behind
