Come and enjoy a shortened guided ride of the MacMillan Castles Bike route. You will meet our guides at the start of the MacMillan Castles Bike Ride Route near the train park at Coate Water Country Park (What3Words: https://w3w.co/concerned.playback.puts ).

We will set off through Coate Water Country Park, picking up Cycle Route 45. We will then cross the M4 motorway via the 'Helter Skelter' bridge (great photo opportunity), making our way up to the Village of Chiseldon via a short hill (its okay to walk it). After a very short section of road, we will pick up the bridleway across to the Ridgeway. This section is very dry and compacted. giving you a good introduction to gravel riding. We will leave the official MacMillan Castle Bike route, and make our way along the tarmacked section of the Ridgeway to the old railway line. We will make our way through the old part of Chiseldon, picking up the MacMillan Castles Bike Ride route again, returning to Coate Water along the Cycle Route 45.

The ride is suitable for all abilities. Come and join us!

What do I need to bring? Ideally a mountain or hybrid bike with off road/grippy tyres. If you have a spare inner tube, bring it along as well. If you bike does not have quick release wheels and need a spanner to take the wheels off to repair a puncture, please bring an appropriate tool. Our Guided Ride Leaders will assist with most mechanical issues. The weather forecast is looking good, so please bring some liquid refreshments and consider using sun cream. And most importantly bring yourself along to enjoy a great Sunday morning bike ride taking in some of the best countryside Swindon has to offer.
