Starting from - The Talybont Bike Hub at the Village Hall, Talybont on Usk, LD3 7UZ.

You can park in the car park (a donation is requested), use the public toilets and at the end of your ride, not only wash your bike but also yourself in one of the two showers. This facility is run by a small group of volunteers and all the money from the bike wash and showers are put to good use in keeping the facility clean, open and improving the Village Hub for both visitors and locals.

We start at the Cycle Hub in Talybont on Usk, cross the canal and ride up to the reservoir dam. Crossing the dam, we pick up the Taff Trail, a wide gravel track, climbing gently upwards. At the top of the trail, we hit tarmac for a short while and soon take a left turn onto another wide gravel track that skirts around Taf Fechan. We rejoin the Taff Trail, this time heading north. Our return journey glides steadily down to the Cycle Hub on tarmac.

Route rating

Exploring around Talybont and Taf Fechan Reservoirs, with miles of glorious gravel.

Country lanes and wide gravel tracks

Plenty of opportunity to stop on route to catch your breath, have a drink and enjoy the views.  We intend to stop somewhere midway through the ride, at a beautiful spot for a picnic lunch.

Please bring a well-maintained bicycle, wear a helmet, gloves and appropriate clothing for the weather.  Remember to carry a drink, a spare tube, puncture repair kit, lock, lights, pump and bring some money for refreshments.  Please bring a picnic to eat on route. You'll need a robust bicycle that is capable of cycling over gravel tracks. A gravel bike would be perfect or a mtb would do the trick. Road bikes with skinny tires will not be suitable for this ride.

We laugh, we cycle and never leave anyone behind!
