An easygoing ride to the delightful Dr Neils Garden in Duddingston. Suitable for those who don't want to cycle very far or at a fast pace!

Starting at the zig-zags on Russell Road we'll make our way along the new cycle path at Sauchiebank, through to the Leamington Lift Bridge and the Meadows. Then onward past the Commonwealth Pool, into Holyrood Park and a lovely swoop downward on Duddingston Low Road (closed to traffic) to reach Duddingston Village and Dr Neils Garden.

We'll spend a little time at the garden and perhaps enjoy refreshments at the cafe. There is both outdoor and indoor seating.

Our return route takes us along a short woodland path, through the golf course and along quiet roads to join the Innocent Railway path back to the Meadows. Crossing over to Bruntsfield Links we'll continue down Leamington Terrace to reach the Lift Bridge again and retrace our route back to the zig-zags.

The route is mostly on cycle paths and traffic free roads, all tarmac apart from a short section of woodland path which is hard packed though could be a little muddy if there has been a lot of rain.

Bring cash/card for the cafe if you want to purchase anything there, or bring your own snack if you prefer. We'll have plenty of time to explore the garden so you may want to bring your camera!

Please bring a bike lock if you have one, a spare inner tube for your bike and tools to remove your wheel if not quick release - and/or have a means of getting home if you are unable to complete the ride for any reason (eg friend/taxi/rescue insurance). Helmets are recommended.

Newcomers welcome!
