Start at Merryoaks Community Centre, Park House Road, Durham, DH1 3QF

Join us for a Scoot along to Spennymoor. We’ll head to Sunderland Bridge, take the back road to Hett and along to the Coach and Horses (A167) before heading into Spennymoor for a stop off at some strategic Norman Cornish trail spots and/or have a peek in the art gallery. We’ll also enjoy a refreshment stop. Exact details to be confirmed once we’ve reccied the ride in the week before.
We’ll return via Tudhoe and Sunderland Bridge.

The ride is suitable for those who are used to riding at least 10 miles and any type of bike will be fine as we’ll be on tarmac and it’s a shortish ride,
There’s a couple of pesky hills to tackle, climbing up away from the River Wear near the start and end but otherwise this is only a little bit hilly by Durham standards.

As always we can’t predict the weather so please dress suitably. It is January in north east England.

In order for the ride to leave promptly, please be punctual so we can carry out bike checks, etc. prior to us setting off. Please make sure your bike is in working condition and bring a spare tube to fit your tyres. Expect to be out for about 3-4 hours. Front and back lights are recommended in case light conditions are poor. As the weather is very unpredictable at this time of year we may alter the ride slightly, start later if conditions are not great or even cancel.
