A bit of local history

This is an easy ride taking in a bit of local history and some pretty parks. From The Bike Shop we take the designated cycle route towards Harrow Town Centre. Having passed through Harrow Recreation Ground, we stop at the Anglican church of St George's Headstone. The church has windows from Whitefriars Glass, a noted local glass works. After a short visit to the church we continue through the park of Headstone Manor, a Grade 1 listed building and former home of the Archbishop of Canterbury. Coming into Pinner there is a hill to climb, but it is fine to get off and push - Breeze rides always go at the pace of the slowest rider. We'll have coffee at Daisy's in Pinner Memorial Park, which was bought by the people of Pinner as a memorial to the fallen of two World Wars and which will soon have a museum to the art of William Heath Robinson, a former Pinner resident. After coffee we return to North Harrow, mainly on quiet roads and off-road paths.
