It's a good forecast and we haven't cycled along the rail path to York for a long time, so I hope everyone can make it. For those with car transport, the route starts outside 37 York Road, Riccall YO19 6QG - what 3words ///upon.husky.earlobes. There's parking for about 3 cars there but you should also find somewhere to park fairly nearby in Riccall.
The other possibility is to go by train to Selby. It's 5 miles from Selby station to the start so you'd need to arrive in Selby a bit before 10. If you're doing that, I can meet you at the station. The trains are pretty frequent. The 9.15 from Brough is Transpennine - you can/should book a bike space - but the others are all Northern. You can't book and there should only be 2 bikes per train, but most train managers allow far more. If anyone is pushed for time to get back, we could go with you to York station. It's a really good route to the station. Trains back to Brough are every hour.
We can either take a picnic to have in Rowntree park and/or use the cafe there or go to the cafe in Cycle Heaven.
It'd be good if you can check your bike before coming and bring:
- comfy clothes (layers are good for flexibility) including gloves and a waterproof if rain looks possible
- your helmet
- pump, inner tube and crossed fingers that they won't be needed!
- drink and snack (it's a good idea to refuel if the refreshment stop is near the end of the ride)
- money for refreshments
-bike lock if you have one
- lights are good, particularly in dull weather
Don't hesitate to get in touch if you've any queries.
