We start by going up Brantingham Dale so do meet us at the top if you prefer. The route to the Fiddle Drill is via Walkington, Cherry,Etton, S Dalton and Holme on the Wolds - just over 20m. There's just one more hill after lunch (Londesbrough) and then it's more or less flat all the way back. There's another possible stop at Allerthorpe Lakes but it's only 12m after lunch so taking a snack would be advisable in case we don't want to stop there. I suggest, too, putting a tablet in your water bottles to help keep cramp at bay - and it helps to ensure you drink enough.
There are a couple of possible short cuts available to individuals or the whole group if e.g. the weather is bad: it would be possible to go the usual route via Kiplingcotes to the Fiddle Drill. After lunch, it would be 5m shorter to cut through from Burnby to Bielby rather than going via Allerthorpe. We can see how we're doing - and those determined to do the distance can always go round Broomfleet to make it up.

- comfy clothes (layers are good for flexibility) including gloves and a waterproof if rain looks possible
- your helmet
- pump, inner tube and crossed fingers that they won't be needed!
- drink and snack
- money for refreshments
-bike lock if you have one
- lights are good, particularly if it's dull, for the short stretch on the Market Weighton Road east of Holme on Spalding Moor and for Cliffe Road, too.
Don't hesitate to get in touch if you've any queries.
