Antrobus Cyclists - In the deep, mid-winter

The length of this ride will depend on the weather conditions. We could be in for cold crisp days – or just sitting in front of a warm fire with a cup of hot chocolate.

It might be a nice short and largely flat ride from Antrobus Loaf and back in time for tea, OR, it could be a longer, but still flat, ride with lunch out.

The planned ride takes us out of Antrobus and down past the pools at Higher Whitley towards Daresbury and Hatton. Then loosely following the Bridgewater Canal, through Walton and Stockton Heath towards Latchford and Thelwall. We cross on the Ferry (if possible) and then return via Grappenhall Heys and Appleton Thorn.

Either way, it will be along the lanes of Cheshire and exploring some new and some old familiar routes.

The ride is on a mixture of cycle paths, quiet country lanes, and some busier roads.

We will ride at an easy pace of about 10-11mph with short stops along the route, and will make sure that no one is left behind.

You'll need a road worthy bike. Helmets are strongly recommended. We also recommend you bring a pump, spare inner tube or puncture repair kit and a lock. Please bring money for coffee breaks and lunch, or your own drinks and snacks, if required
