The Central London Outdoor Group (CLOG) (founded 1937) has one or two easy cycle rides in the countryside nearly every week between March and October ranging from 20 to 35 miles. These are easily accessible by public transport from London and are on quiet roads or cycle paths.

By bike we explore rivers, canals, forts, castles, coast, marshes, gardens, woods, ruins, churches, mansions, cycle-ferries, churchyards, villages, lost railways....

Non members can come up to 3 cycle rides or other events to try us out before joining. Photos from past cycle rides and walks: https://www.flickr.com/photos/clogpics/albums/

We also do around 20 trips away(weekend or longer) in the UK and abroad every year.

27 mile linear Chiltern bike ride

Hi Cloggies I will be leading one of my favourite rides, a 27 mile linear Chilterns bike ride starting from Northwood tube station (zone 6) at 10.50am taking in Rickmansworth, Sarratt, Chenies, and Denham before finishing at Uxbridge tube station on Sunday 3rd September. The route will be on a mixture of country lanes, minor roads, parks and canal paths aswell as cycle paths. The ride will include a couple of hills which is unavoidable in the Chilterns.

There will be an early coffee stop at Rickmansworth Aquadrome or Batchworth Lock cafe Rickmansworth then a short climb to the village of Sarratt where we will stop for lunch at 'The Boot' pub. There is a village green for those that wish to bring a packed lunch.

The route then takes us through the Chess valley and more pretty Chiltern villages before heading for home made cakes and tea at Denham church. Drop out option at Chorleywood station after approx 18 miles before the tea stop.

After tea we will cycle along the Grand Union Canal to Uxbridge tube station (zone 6) on the Metropolitan line- estimated finishing time 5.30pm.
