This ride takes us up the steady climb of Loxley Road to Damflask, where we turn left and continue along the side of the reservoir until we reach Low Bradfield. From there we have a long steady climb up Blindside Lane, which winds through the trees before emerging onto open moorland with beautiful views across Dale Dyke and Strines Reservoirs. At the top of Blindside Lane we'll turn right and continue to Mortimer Road, where we turn right past the Strines Inn. After a short, steep descent there is a steady climb before we take a right turn onto Dale Road and drop back down to Low Bradfield. We'll stop at the Flask End cafe for coffee and cake before continuing along mostly flat or downhill roads back to the start.
There are a few moderate climbs on this ride, but we'll take our time and stop for breathers if we need to. No-one will get left behind!
IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR PARTICIPANTS
We recommend that all participants wear a helmet. Please make sure you wear appropriate clothing for the weather.
As usual we do expect you to have ensured your bike is roadworthy and that you have carried out basic pre-ride checks; we recommend that you also carry at least one spare inner tube, a pump (CO2 inflators are also highly recommended). If you have a mechanical problem we will do our best to assist you and/or lend you an inner tube or repair kit if we can, but it is always best to be self-reliant. Don’t forget to bring money for refreshments and a mobile phone.
This is a purely social group of like-minded people sharing a love of cycling, it is not a formal organisation nor does it have any form of legal structure. You are free to choose to ride with us but in doing so please note that you do so in acceptance that this is entirely at your own risk.
