Starting point

South Yorkshire
S6 4TE

This ride builds up a little from last week's ride to Tideswell and Eyam, extending it by a few miles and adding the extra little challenge of the climb to Monsal Head (due to the Monsal Hill Climb event, we'll take a minor detour to get to the top of the hill). We'll set off from our usual start point on Loxley Road and pass through Low Bradfield before climbing up Blindside Lane to Sugworth Road and then left onto Mortimer Road. From there we'll drop down the A57 to Ladybower, turn left at the traffic lights and continue past the Yorkshire Bridge. We then take a right and wind our way through the lanes to Bradwell and onwards to Coplow Dale and from there to Tideswell, where we'll stop for a cafe break. Once refreshed, we’ll continue through Litton and Cresswell before dropping down into the beautiful Monsal Dale. A left turn takes us up a steady climb and a right turn then takes us to Monsal Head where we can watch some of the competitors complete the hill climb. We'll then continue through Great Longstone and Hassop to Calver and then up the long steady climb of Nether Padley to Fox House and on to Ringinglow and across to Lodge Moor. We then drop down to Rivelin Valley and return to the start. IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR PARTICIPANTS We recommend that you wear a helmet. Please make sure you wear appropriate clothing for the weather. As usual we do expect you to have ensured your bike is roadworthy and that you have carried out basic pre-ride checks; we recommend that you also carry at least one spare inner tube, a pump (CO2 inflators are also highly recommended). If you have a mechanical problem we will do our best to assist you and/or lend you an inner tube or repair kit if we can, but it is always best to be self-reliant. Don’t forget to bring money for refreshments and a mobile phone. DISCLAIMER This is a purely social group of like-minded people sharing a love of cycling, it is not a formal organisation, nor does it have any form of legal structure. We do not profess to be trained ride leaders but do have experience of doing so. You are free to choose to ride with us but in doing so please note that you do so in acceptance that this is entirely at your own risk. We cannot accept responsibility for any loss or injury suffered because of your participation. Please also read the terms and conditions on the website.
