Vamos en Bicicleta!

We will initially climb up to Wharton Park for views over the City and then wind our way through Aykley Heads, Newton Hall and Brasside to descend to Finchale Abbey. We’ll return via the quiet road back to Brasside and Frankland Lane bridleway back to Durham.

For any last minute cancellations on the day please text 07779346206 (note this phone is only for the day of the ride) otherwise use the option to cancel when you log in to letsride.co.uk. If the weather is bad we will only contact you if we are cancelling the ride and will do so no later than 9.00am on the day by putting a message in the ‘conversation’ tab in the ride. You should receive a notification by email if there is a message. If you have not heard from us we are still riding.

Come and join us on a cycle to Finchale Abbey with a Spanish twist! We will be speaking in Spanish as well as English and learning Spanish cycle related words as we pedal.

We will cycle over decent surfaces with a mix of off and on road. A hybrid bike is the best choice but a mountain bike or more chunky tyre road style bike will also do the job.

We will be stopping to admire the views and learn Spanish instructions along the way, but once back in Durham we can have a post ride coffee or cafe con leche!

In order for the ride to leave promptly, please be punctual so we can carry out bike checks prior to us setting off. Please make sure your bike is in working condition and bring a spare tube to fit your tyres. Expect to be out for about 2 to 3 hours in total plus time for a drink once back in Durham. As always we can’t predict the weather so please dress suitably. You are better to be overdressed as you can always take layers off.
