IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT TOMORROW’S (Sat 2nd Feb) RIDE
We’ve decided that tomorrow’s not for cycling but we’ll be walking instead. Start same time 12.30, 5 mile walk, approx 2 hours plus cafe after. Come well dressed. If you’re doing Breeze Through Winter this will still count as one of your rides. Sorry but the weather’s taken charge.
If a walk isn’t your thing please cancel your place as there may be others who might come. Thanks everyone.
The Trimdons - A Winter’s Trail
Saturday 2nd Feb 12.30pm 22 miles
Start Shincliffe - lay-by at north end of village (DH1 2PF)
This is a chance to keep up a few miles during the winter, especially for anyone training for our May C2C trip . It’s for more confident riders and almost exclusively on roads. Heading out to Bowburn, Cassop, the Trimdons, Hurworrh Burn, Cornforth and Coxhoe. Averagely hilly for Durham standards (approx 1200ft for 22 miles), around and about the magnesian limestone ridge with its great views. We’ll return for a cuppa at Betty Bees Tea Room which is a stone’s throw from where we’ll have met.
The route is best for hybrid and winter friendly road bikes. Please come prepared for winter weather with plenty of clothes including gloves and bring a spare inner tube to fit your tyres. Also make sure you’ve got front and back lights in case light conditions are poor.
As we are at the mercy of the weather at this time of year we may alter the ride slightly if conditions are not great (including the option of going for a walk). We'll make any decision to cancel/alter plans by 11am on the morning and let you know by text, as well as posting on our Breeze Network Durham Facebook page. No need to send us any messages before then asking us what’s happening. If you don’t hear from us the ride will be going ahead as planned.
For any last minute cancellations on the day please text 07493808927 (note this phone is only for the day of the ride) otherwise use the option to cancel when you log in to letsride.co.uk.
In order for the ride to leave promptly, please be punctual so we can carry out bike checks, etc. prior to us setting off. Make sure your bike is in working condition and bring a spare tube to fit your tyres. We should be out for about 3 hours but as always it is difficult to be precise about timing.
Hope you can join us for a fun and friendly ride. If you want any more information email us at
[email protected].
