HP2 7BA

At this time of year this route requires you to robe riding a mountain bike or a bike with off-road/nobly tyres. Any questions about what bike is suitable please message me.

This is a very easy-going ride, for those who are new to cycling, wanting a relaxing weekend ride, just returning to cycling or want to cycle with their children. We will ride at the pace that is best suited to everyone in the group, usually between 5-8mph. As leaders we will ensure that no one is left behind, so that all the group can have an enjoyable ride.

We will be riding approximately 8 miles on the traffic free cycle track, called ‘The Nickey Line, heading towards Redbourn, and towards harpenden. The Nickey Line is a disused railway line that is now accessible for cycling and walking. This beautiful, shady track has been unspoilt with tarmac so can be a little bumpy and muddy in places. However it is a perfect riding area for anyone wanting to get back into riding with the support of a small group.

Please arrive at 10/15mins early so we can undertake our bike check and a briefing about the ride.
Please remember to bring,
Two spare inner tubes for your bike, even if you do not know how to change them, someone in the group will, as well as the appropriate tools (tyre levers)
A waterbottle with a drink in, riding can be very thirsty work.
Cycle helmet, for your own safety.
Appropriate clothing for the weather

In view of COVID-19 we will be taking this into account with our ride leading and we will follow govt. guidelines. Please note the following:
• We will not share any equipment so please be organised and bring your own items eg drink, spare inner tube, tyre levers and pump, sun cream and hand sanitiser.
• You should pay particular attention to your bike being in good working order before attending a ride so as to minimise risks and disruption to rides. We will do a bike check before leaving but will check our own bikes.
• We will ride taking social distancing into account. At the time of writing British Cycling recommend riding at least 1m apart.
• Participants must not attend a ride if they have COVID-19 symptoms or have been in contact with anyone with symptoms and should be isolating
• Anyone who develops COVID-19 symptoms during a ride must inform a leader.
• Anyone who develops COVID symptoms after a ride must contact the leader who will inform British Cycling HQ who will then contact everyone who attended the ride.
Do not attend this ride if you have returned from (anywhere) abroad in the last 2 weeks.
All of the above is to keep us all safe from the virus.
You can contact the leader directly via the ‘Message Ride Creator’ tab in the ride posting on let’s ride unless you have their direct contact details already. “
