Following the Ebb tide alongside the River Lune, crossing the Millenium Bridge to the North bank, we leave the cycleway on undulating roads through Overton and onto the Causeway to Sunderland Point-so named because twice a day it is cast 'asunder' from the main land by high tides.
Worth a stop to see a little of the history and dark secrets of this the original port. Then via unmade bridleway, an interesting ride along the foreshore leads onto the current main port of Heysham, via minor roads.
We have passed several seaside sculptures but they are surpassed by the site of St Patrick's Chapel, Heysham -another worthwhile stop.
Cycleway back to Bull Beck stopping only at Morecambe for refreshments at the Promenade Cafe.
