We will set off from Millhouses Park and up Whirlowdale Road, before a climb up Long Line, past the Norfolk Arms and up towards Stanage Edge, where we will enjoy stunning panoramic views across the Peak District. We then have a long descent down Fiddler’s Elbow and into Hathersage, where we will have our coffee stop. After refreshments, we ride down a lovely, undulating road to Grindleford, drop down to Calver and begin our final, long ascent through Froggatt and up to Longshaw. Once at the top of the climb, we ride over the moorland and drop back into Sheffield from Owler Bar.

Route rating

0 stars (0) Reviews

This road route is great for those wanting to challenge themselves on the hills. This route has two substantial climbs (2400 feet total) with a lovely descent and some undulations in between, and we will ride through some beautiful countryside, taking in Stanage Edge, Burbage Rocks, Higger Tor, Froggatt Edge and Big Moor.

We will be riding on roads with mostly good surfaces, but there will be some fast moving traffic that may overtake us quickly. Please ensure you are comfortable riding on fast roads before signing up.

We will stop for a brew and a cake in Hathersage, either at Coleman’s Deli or the Pool Cafe.

Please bring a drink with you and some money for the cafe stop. Please ensure your bike is in good working order and bring a spare inner tube, multi-tool/spanner and a pump with you. We’ll help you if you get a puncture, but you need to carry the right tube for your bike. :-) Helmets are advised but not compulsory. Laura x
