After May’s disappointing wet and chilly ride, I’m hoping we’re in to Summer at last. The weather forecast for Saturday is looking quite promising at the moment. The route for this ride is a clockwise circuit of about 17miles. I’ve decided to ‘up our game’ just a little and there are some up-hills to get our lungs and legs working a bit, but no long arduous pulls. We always wait at the tops of hills to get our breath back, so no worries if you need to walk it – you won’t be left behind! We’ll leave by way of Fell Mill Lane and take the right turn at the crossroads up to Castle Hill Lane in Brailes. A mile on the main road through Brailes and we’re taking a right turn to Traitors Ford and over to the Straw Kitchen at the Whichford Pottery for our coffee stop. Indoor seating is allowed for up to 6 in a group, but they also have outdoor tented seating. They don’t take bookings, so we’ll just turn up and keep our fingers crossed. The refreshment stop comes at 2/3rds of the total distance, so the homeward route through Stourton, Willington and Barcheston will seem very easy in comparison. The usual advice applies : Keep COVID secure please. Ensure your bike is in a roadworthy condition with working brakes and well pumped tyres. Bring a spare tube if you’re up to changing it by the side of the road! Gear up appropriately for the weather, use sunscreen and bring water. A helmet is recommended but is not compulsory. Cash or card for your coffee is a good idea too! I do hope you will join me and I look forward to riding with you again soon. Get in touch if you have any queries : 01608 661288 07762 358466, Jacey.
