• Ride Leaders - Martin & Lesley Doxsey. Starting at one of the official Guild Wheel car parks - Preston Crematorium, off Longridge Road, Preston, PR2 5BP. Average speed – 8-9 mph Elevation – 700 ft.
The Guild Wheel is a 21-mile walking and cycling route, encircling Preston and providing a link from the city to the countryside. The Wheel is a great way to make the most of the many forms of landscapes that make Preston what it is – cycle along rambling river and canal sides, through ancient woodland, city centre parkland, historic docklands and attractive nature reserves.
We will have a cafe stop along the way or you may prefer to bring your own snacks/drinks with you.
Please ensure your bike is in good working condition. Check your gears and brakes and if they are a little bit stiff/rusty and you are not sure how to remedy, take it to your local bike shop. They will be happy to take a look. Although helmets are only recommended by law and not deemed to be essential, anyone not wearing a helmet will not be able to join the ride unfortunately. We do have bikes and helmets to hire if required. Please email [email protected] for further information . Please bring your spare inner tubes, bike levers and pump (don’t worry about the latter if you don’t have one). A lock would be advisable for the café stop. It is essential that all ride participants carry their own PPE, that is mask, anti bac gel/wipes and tissues. First aid consumables will be provided by the leader but you will need to self-medicate if it is safe to do so.
First-timers welcome!
