Saxmundham - Bramfield - Covehithe - Southwold - Dunwich

The ride that never was. Further to this ride previously being aborted due to Covid, the threat of thunderstorms, and other unscheduled mishaps last month, we'll try again!

A route through the countryside north of Saxmundham through Bramfield before crossing to the coast to Covehithe and Southwold. returning through Warbleswick and Dunwich.

The roads and lanes are paved, rural, and quiet with light traffic. However, the Summer holidays may mean the coast is a little busier.

The planned route has modest inclines and is a little longer in distance than average.

Expect pace of 13/14 mph average, but we never leave anyone behind.

A planned cafe stop on the beach at the Gun Hill kiosk, Southwold or similar; bring card / cash for refreshments. Southwold is at approx. 32 miles, so riders in addition to water bottles may wish to consider carrying some re-fuelling snacks for interim consumption. Also don't forget to apply that suncream as conditions dictate!

Helmets strongly recommended! Carry spare inner tube / tyre levers or other means for addressing punctures for your bike. A multi-tool is likewise always useful for running repairs. Assistance always given for running repairs where possible.
