This ride is a slightly more challenging than usual for our Saturday Short & Steady Rides, with a bit of a climb over Richmond Park. But it's worth it for the views, and for the other lovely things on the ride!
The month of May has to mean a visit to the Isabella Plantation in Richmond Park, to see the glorious azalaeas in full bloom
https://www.royalparks.org.uk/parks/richmond-park/things-to-see-and-do/isabella-plantation . This lovely ride also adds a refreshment stop at the Hansel & Pretzel German Deli in Ham.
http://www.hanselandpretzel.co.uk/ We will ride out of Ealing to Kew Bridge, then along to Chiswick Bridge to cross the river to Mortlake and make our way through Sheen to enter Richmond Park at the Sheen Gate. After tackling the hill past the White Lodge, we have an easy ride with panoramic views over Richmond Park, to the Isabella Plantation. We will pause here to lock up our bikes and explore this lovely garden on foot. We will then leave the Park at the Ham Gate and ride down to Ham Village to our refreshment stop.
Our homeward route will take us down to the river by Ham House, back to Richmond, then over Richmond Bridge and back to Ealing via Isleworth, Syon Park, and Brentford.
