A new ride , well sort of ! We take The Sankey Valley Trail , one our regular routes , but instead of fish and chips , we detour at the Transpennine trail and take a different route over to Walton Park where the Bike Museum is , this destination has foiled us on a few attempts but ive spoke to the proprietor and he is going to get some bikes out that maybe we can have a go on !! This route is 90% canal paths / smooth cycle paths , with a little bit of road to get to the park ( it is a busy road which I suggest we stay single file ,no more than 200yards over one of the Ship canal bridges) . There is a café and courtyard at Walton Park as well as crazy golf, childrens fair , and zoo, as well as the hall and gardens with a pond full of decorative carp . All this plus the natural wildlife of Sankey Valley , swans , lots with young as ive seen today , kingfishers (not seen today !) herons , had a belting day today doing the recce for this ride , if the weather is as nice as this your in for a treat !!

Please make sure you check your bike over the night before and make sure you carry a couple of spare tubes and a means of inflating them . Be at the start 15 minutes before the start time , also please note it is 10:00am start , a little later than we normally start !
Also if riding , this ride is 25/26 miles , make sure you can do this kind of distance , we do not race , we ride at a sociable pace , probably 9 / 10 mph so we can have a chat and enjoy the scenery . Now for the serious bit ( don't like having to do this but I do ) Anyone who takes off forward of the front ride leader will be told to leave the ride . Sounds petty and strict but in all honesty the group is not like that but we have had a few who feel it is ok to do so. It compromise's the safety of the group , I cannot keep an eye on people who take off forward of the group as well as the group behind me .
