Saltaire to Rodley Nature Reserve

Mostly towpath or private access road, we travel along National Cycle Network 66, through Rodley and onto the volunteer operated Nature Reserve. Here we can get a cake and a cuppa, but if you think you will need something more substantial, take a sandwich to eat in the visitor centre. The reserve has several wetland areas populated by a wide variety of birds which can be viewed from any of several hides should the day prove suitable. Binoculars? Yes if you want. I'll try to remember to include a bird book.
I would advise that you bring a drink and a snack for top ups along the way, also some money for refreshments when we stop.

We really welcome newcomers to our rides; we will always ride at the pace of the slowest rider so no one is left behind. All you need is a roadworthy bike, sensible clothing and a bit of enthusiasm. Dress appropriately for the weather: several thin layers are best and a rain jacket could come in handy. It helps to have a spare inner tube of the correct size - just in case.

Wearing a helmet is advisable; if you don’t have one please do not to worry you can still take part.  If you enjoy the bike ride and would like to come again perhaps you could look to buy one then.
