Ride to The Gasket via Elnup Woods

This ride will leave Robin Park and follow the Leeds and Liverpool canal to Crooke Village where we leave the towpath and follow the trail to Shevington and climb through Elnup Woods to the Standish Mineral Line. After crossing the M6 motorway we cycle down Back Lane and then there is a short climb up Skull House Lane for our refreshment stop at the Gasket.

The return journey is down Mill Lane to the Boathouse Pub where we join the canal towpath back to Robin Park.

The ride is barrier free but there are a couple of places where you will have to squeeze through bollards.

As usual photos will be taken on the ride and will be put on the Wigan and Leigh Cycling Group Facebook page - please notify the ride leaders if you do not want your photo taken.

A ride to a popular local bikers cafe.

The ride is a mixture of canal towpath, quiet roads, cycle paths, short stretches of busy roads and tracks and trails.

There will be short stops en route and a longer stop for refreshments at The Gasket in Appley Bridge.

Please bring drinks/snacks or money to buy them. Helmets should be worn on this ride.

New riders are welcome on our rides and we never leave anyone behind.
