A steady ride that is also a sightseeing for romcom fans! We cycle around London to visit different film locations of famous movies directed or written by Richard Curtis. The most famous blockbusters are included: Four Weddings and a Funeral, Notting Hill, Bridget Jones’s Diary, Love Actually, and About Time. Despite going on a steady pace, this ride isn’t rushed – we stop at each one of the locations to take pictures and, where possible, do a tour inside some of the premises. If you don’t like stop and start and a bit of trivia, this ride is not for you!
The actual locations are a surprise saved for the day, but we will visit a total of 12 of them, spread across Notting Hill of course, Mayfair, Borough, The City and Islington. If you haven’t watched the movies, it may be a fun idea to catch up on! The route is mostly flat with just a few inclines (but no hills), and through quiet roads and cycle lanes, with a couple of mildly busy roads.
We stop at Borough Market for lunch. You may want to bring a snack if you think you might get hungry before lunch. Bring a sturdy lock (or 2) to park your bike. We aim to be back at Roundwood Park by 5pm.
IMPORTANT POINTS: *Helmets aren't compulsory but advisable. *Check that your tyres are pumped and bring a spare inner tube and all necessary tools in case of a puncture. *If you develop Covid-19 symptoms or have been told to self-isolate, or can't make it for any other reason, please cancel your space so someone else can join. *Only riders who booked themselves on the ride will be allowed to join. *Unless the weather takes a nasty turn making it unsafe or unpleasant to cycle, this ride will go ahead even if it rains.
