Railway Ramble (Blazing Blue)

We'll head north out of Hove Park, crossing the A2038, to reach the start of the Devils Dyke Old Railway Line (one of the off-road stretches). This winds gradually upwards to Devils Dyke view point, after which we will take the road over to Poynings and on to Bramber, stopping en route for refreshments. We then join the second of our former railway lines, the Downs Link, which takes us along the Adur back down to Shoreham. We’ll take the pontoon across the Basin Road and then wind our way back through Hove to finish up at Hove Park.

This ride has been categorised as "Blazing Blue" - intermediate riders 15-20 miles, 9-10 mph on country lanes with moderate hills.

This is a circular route, taking in the views from the top of Devils Dyke and a meander along the Adur.

It is part on/part off road, with a gradual climb to the top of Devils Dyke and a few other short hills. It is suitable for hybrid and MTB, plus road bikes with hybrid tyres.

We will have a refreshment stop at Tottington Manor

Please give your bike a check over before you leave home. Are the tyres pumped up? Are the gears and brakes working properly? Always carry a spare inner tube, puncture repair kit and a pump, just in case. Please also bring waterproofs in case we get caught in a shower.
