Meet up at the Brewhouse and Kitchen Sophia Gardens.
We’ll take the Taff Trail as far as Llandaff North and then follow the A4054 to Coryton.
We’ll pass through Coryton on the cycle track and pick up the A4054 again all the way up to Merthyr.
At the top end of Merthyr we’ll pick up another cycle track which takes us across a via duct, up through woodlands and eventually to Pontsticill Road. A short ride though lanes will take us to the reservoir and we’ll cycle on up to the mountain railway for coffee and cake.
We’ll return via a couple of short sharp climbs along lanes to Cefn Coed y Cymmer, then down through Merthyr and retrace our route back to Cardiff.
Please check weather and bring suitable clothing. Please wear a helmet. Please bring tools and spares, plus cash/card for coffee and cake. Please bring enough water and food to fuel the ride. If any needs to bale out on the return we'll pass close to stations at Merthyr, Quakers Yard and Pontypridd.
