Pontsticill Reservoir

Starting from Sophia Gardens we’ll follow the A4054 up to Coryton roundabout. Cutting through the roundabout on cycle track we then pick up the A4054 again and follow this up through Pontypridd and Quakers Yard to Merthyr Tydfil. We’ll then pick up a cycle track over Cefn Coed viaduct and follow the Taff Fechan almost all the way to the reservoir. A short climb through the lanes will get us there. We can visit the Brecon Mountain Railway Station and then take a short ride to the Red Cow Inn for Lunch. On leaving the Red Cow we need to tackle a short sharp climb up to Vaynor and then drop down back into Merthyr Tydfil. Following the old Brecon Road we’ll get back to Merthyr Tydfil College and retrace our route back to Cardiff.
