Come and join one of our Sunday social rides organised by Mid Devon Cycling Club. We’re a friendly bunch.

We have a different start point for this week’s ride, which Colin Butler is kindly leading for us.

This route follows, as close as possible by road, the Parish Boundary of Ilsington, the largest parish in Devon. Experience the range of environments and discover some of the history of the largest parish in Devon

We aim to stop for a water refuel. There are no refreshment stops on this route. The village shop is open until 1.00pm and supplies teas, coffees and cakes but it would be advisable to put snacks in your pockets

This Parishscapes event is supporting Dartmoor Search and Rescue. Donations on the day will be most welcome. A booklet detailing the History of Beating the Bounds around the parish of Ilsington is available, price £5 and copies will be available on the day.

Distance is approximately 30 miles with a café stop mid route. Average speed is approximately 10 mph.

Routes are usually hilly so a road bike or hybrid with road tyres please.

Please bring a drink with you, a spare tube, just in case, and a bike lock and money for the café. Please also dress in accordance with weather conditions.

There is no need to be a member for the first two rides. Just come along and see how you like it. I’m sure you will.

Don’t be put off by the large amount of racy looking cyclists at the start. MDCC is a very big club with seven different rides on a Sunday, just arrive at least 10 minutes early, ask to be directed to the Social Ride and then introduce yourself to the ride leader.

Although there is a car park at the start, please be aware that there is a height barrier for those of you with a bike on top of the car.

If parking on the nearby housing estate, please be considerate to local residents. We don’t want to be disturbing their Sunday morning lie-ins.

All under 18s must be accompanied by an adult and be capable of cycling 30 miles at 10mph

For further details please contact Mike or Michele Radant on 01803 664061

Please note that destination and ride leaders may vary from advertised
