Thanks for your patience with us while we've been on pause, and while we're getting to grips with the new British Cycling guidance for leading Breeze rides.

This ride will be a chance to get the legs going again and to try riding in a small group, observing social distancing to keep us all safe. Join us on a gentle paced ride along the Prom and Crosby Coastal path to Formby Pinewoods (Lifeboat Road). There'll be a pit-stop in the pinewoods at the half way point, so please bring a drink and a snack for yourself. There is no cafe and no facilities available at the Pinewoods, however we will stop at a large grassy clearing where we can sit outside and have a chat. After the pit-stop, we'll return on the same route. This is mostly traffic free, but there are some minor roads and the start and end of the route. If you're not confident on roads, don't worry - we'll ride safely and they are not busy roads. Any roadworthy bike will be suitable.

Remember it can be a bit breezy on the front, so a few layers will be best. I'll post a weather update to all participants on the day of the ride.

This ride is suitable for beginners and those who are looking forward to joining group rides again after the Covid-19 pause. We'll go at a comfortable pace, enjoying the beautiful scenery around us. We’ll use a shared path, which might be busy as it’s the Easter weekend.

Newcomers to Breeze rides are very welcome! Don't worry if you don't know anyone, we're a friendly bunch. Please dress appropriately for the weather: in cool weather it's good to wear lots of thin layers, so you can add/remove them as needed; a rain jacket is a good idea too. Wearing a helmet is advisable; if you don’t have one, please do not worry, you can still take part. If you enjoy the bike ride and would like to come again perhaps you could look to buy one then.

You are free to wear any Covid PPE that you feel may give you more confidence, but any face covering should not restrict your breathing during exercise. It's probably a good idea to bring gloves/hand sanitiser for your own personal use, should you touch anything on the ride and need to clean your hands.

I'm really looking forward to seeing everyone again after such a long time, and to welcoming new riders who may have dusted off their bikes during lockdown. Come and join us!

Please note that you should not attend this ride if you or somebody you live with have symptoms of Covid-19, or have tested positive. I will send a message on the day of the ride to all participants asking for confirmation in advance.
