An 12.5 mile 'out and back' easygoing ride along the Coventry canal towpath from the National Bike Week Roadshow at Millennium Place, to Hawkesbury Junction via the canal basin.
On this ride we're working in partnership with the Canal and River Trust to help promote the canal network, and also supporting National Bike Week.
This ride is ideal for beginners, families or those who have discovered or rediscovered the joy of riding a bike recently, but please note although this is a flat 'easygoing' ride, it does include some city streets and the towpath is quite narrow in parts and will require riders to be confident in handling their bike - as such it is not suitable for very young children unless in child seats or tag-alongs.
We'll start our ride from outside Coventry Transport Museum and join the canal towpath at the canal basin in St. Nicholas Street. For those who haven't ridden with us before, be assured that we ride at a pace to suit everyone - it's certainly not a race and we'll stop to rest weary legs if needs be. There will be options to take refreshments on board at either Hawkesbury Junction or back at the basin at Playwright's cafe before returning to our start point at Millennium Place.
Helmets are compulsory for all riders under 18yrs old, but we strongly recommend wearing one due to some low bridges along the way! Please ensure your bike is in roadworthy condition and you'll also need to bring a spare inner tube and pump in case of a puncture.
