Our rides often go near or even up Blowing Stone (hill) but we rarely stop to view the actual Blowing Stone; so for this ride the Blowing Stone, which is mentioned the novel Tom Brown's School Days, is our destination. As the stone does not blow coffee we will make our to Stanford for our coffee stop before returning home

Typical Oxfordshire country lane and 1 mile on the A 417 into Stanford

We stop at one of favourite venues the Stanford Coffee shop

Don’t forget a full water bottle with your favourite thirst quencher. Please bring a face mask; you may have to wear it on entering the café and in the event of first aid being required. For all our rides you should bring at least a spare inner tube and a pump. If your wheels are bolted on then a spanner that fits the nuts is also essential. Helmets are not compulsory but most definitely recommended. You should dress appropriately for the weather, and consider bringing your mobile phone along with cash or debit card for the coffee stop. Some café’s only take card payments.

New riders welcome; there is a short climb on this ride (see the elvation chart, but it looks worse than it is. It is not too taxing and you wont get left behind even if you decide to push your bike up the hill
