Welcome to Britain’s biggest network of cyclists! Meet like-minded riders, create groups, and organise your own rides.

Starting point

Hampshire
RG27 0BX

Starting from Sherfield on Loddon, this route takes us out towards Stratfield Saye, Beech Hill, Stratfield Turgis, Mattingley, West Green, Winchfield, Whitehall, Odiham, Greywell, Upton Grey, Mapledurwell, Old Basin, Chineham, Bramley and back to SOL.. We avoid as much main road as possible, but you may need to ride on a couple of B roads, or where mentioned the A33, so I can mix up the routes, but this will be minimal where possible.

Beginners Rides are for beginners who would like to try riding in a small group with an experienced rider at the helm. My rides will be 10/11 miles at a pace to suit all. So could be at a speed as little as 9mph average. We ride to the slowest riders pace. There will be experienced people on hand to aid with any issues on the ride and if you have any questions before please let me know and any after, can be discussed over a coffee/tea at the cafe stop.

Bike Maintenance is crucial for you and the group to enjoy the ride. On route punctures can and will happen, so please be sure you have at least one spare tube and the tools to fix it. You will have plenty of people willing to help, so no need to worry. Also making sure your bike is well maintained will make the ride easier for you and your bike will last longer. Any questions please ask before or during the ride. I will be happy to help.

The Social Bit.
I am a volunteer and organise social rides and am not taking on the role of ride leader. My sole responsibility is to help coordinate the route, meeting point and start time for the social ride and to promote James Social Cycling;-)
Social Rides are not officially organised, sponsored or insured by James Social Cycling. Although I encourage people to get out and about, improve fitness and take part, these rides are organised on an informal basis.

The Legal Bit.
Riders who are minors (under 16) must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Parents and guardians are responsible for supervising, and ensuring the safety of, minors in their party as well as looking out for their own health and safety and that of other riders throughout the ride.
Riders therefore take part at their own risk and are strongly encouraged to ensure they wear suitable personal protection equipment, that their machines are properly serviced and in good condition, and to arrange their own personal insurance arrangements. In particular, riders must make their own assessment of the suitability of the proposed route in light of the ability and fitness level of every person in their party.
Helmets are preferred, but not required by law.
Weekend rides will consist of an obligatory Café stop. We usually stop at the Bramley Village Bakery, Bramley, House28 in Sherfield on Loddon.

We will take a number of photos before, during and after the ride which will be posted on the Fat Lad at the Back Facebook pages.
