Ride Leaders: Celia Rishton and Michelle Tonge. Average speed 10.5 miles an hour. Elevation: 2300 ft. The route is undulating with lots of uphills and just as many down hills - we never leave anyone behind! There will be plenty of stops to catch your breath and to hydrate.
Starting from Scout Rd car park we head towards Belmont village along the cycle path. We continue up through the village towards the Tockholes turn and onwards through quiet country lanes all the way down to Feniscowles. Travelling onwards, along a busier road which will lead us through to Houghton and our historic venue. Here we will have a short stop and hear some of Houghtons fascinating histories and legends. Followed by a short spell inside the grounds to take a look around the visiting farmers market and maybe a coffee break.
After which we will head back on the bikes, closing the loop, along more quiet lanes. Passing through the village of Brindle until we arrive at Wheelton where we will have a lunch stop. Please take some time to peruse the menu below in order to speed up our lunch stay.
The views along the way are spectacular, and the countryside is beautiful. After our stop at Wheelton and Withnall, we continue via busier roads back to home, passing by Abbey Village and through Belmont Village along the way.
