From South Harrow we head out via Greenford and Brentford to Syon Park. Onwards to Hampton Hill and Hampton and a lovely long stretch along the river to Old Shepperton. Here we loop round the main road and then turn left onto quiet Dockett Eddy Lane and the towpath. This is a gorgeous stretch of the Thames and the route takes us to Shepperton Lock where we will stop for toilets and to watch the boats coming and going in the lock. We will then stop for breakfast/brunch at The Ferry Coffee Shop https://www.ferrycoffeeshop.com

We take the small ferry across the river that takes a few minutes to cross and costs £4. You may buy the ticket on the boat(cash only) or at the Ferry Coffee Shop.

After crossing the river we cycle along the river and turn off near Walton-on-thames where it gets a little busy on the road. We cross the river again at Hampton court bridge and onwards to Bushy park, the second largest of London’s Royal Parks. Here we cycle down the beautiful mile long Chestnut Avenue and around the spectacular Diana Fountain designed by Sir Christoper Wren. If we have time, we will visit the Upper Lodge Water gardens, a historic gem hidden away in the north of the park.

From here we cycle through Kingston and Ham Common and enter Richmond Park via Ham gate. We will stop at Pembroke Lodge for a quick snack and a toilet break and fill our water bottles. We exit Richmond Park at Sheen gate, through Mortlake, cross Chiswick bridge and along the river towards Kew. Onwards beside Gunnersbury Park, Ealing, through Pittshanger park and along a short section of the Grand Union canal by Horsenden Hill leaving the canal at the lovely new development of Greenford Quay and its water fountain and back to South Harrow.

A lovely route along the river Thames and through two of the largest Royal Parks of London

The ride is classed as challenging due to the length of the ride. It is almost all on road except for a few sections but is suitable for all bikes. Although the ride is mostly flat along the river, there are a few short inclines on the route. Please join the ride if you are able to ride the distance. It will be a whole day out and we should return to South Harrow by approximately 3pm. If the ride is full please sign up on the waiting list and message me.

We will have two main stops. First at Shepperton and then at Pembroke Lodge in Richmond Park but can have more stops if required.

Please bring snacks, water, waterproofs and anything else you may require for the day as weather could be changeable.

We never leave anyone behind
