This is a lovely wooded and sometimes hilly ride up towards Abertillery. We take the old Crumlin Road from Pontypool and pick up the cycle track to Hafodyrynys where we cross to Swffryd enjoying spectacular views as we descend into the valley towards Llanhilleth. We then wind our way through Brynithel and Aberdeeg and on towards the Guardian. There are two challenging hills on the way back but neither are long.
We will stop at the Llanhilleth Miners Institute for coffee on the way back before returning to Pontypool.

A lovely ride through Llanhilleth to see the Guardian of the Valley commemorating the Six Bells Mining Disaster

Some side roads but mostly off road cycle route

We will stop at Llanhilleth Miners Institute for refreshments on the way back

Please bring helmets, bike lock and spare inner tube

First-timers welcome!
