Starting point

South Yorkshire
S8 0LB

This ride takes us from the car park outside PureGym at Archer Road in Millhouses up Whirlowdale Road and onwards to Ringinglow. From there we'll carry on down the Dale and into Hathersage, where we turn left and continue until a right turn takes us onto the long (and occasionally steep) climb up to Abney. The climb rewards us with some magnificent views before we drop down and take a left turn and begin to climb again past the Barrel pub for some equally magnificent views. We then descend towards Grindleford but take a left turn before we get there and pass along a lovely wooded lane that drops steeply back down to the road into Hathersage. We'll stop for refreshments on this second visit to Hathersage before tackling the final long climb of the day up Jaggers and Coggers lanes to Stannage Edge and onwards through Ringinglow to return to PureGym. As on all of these rides, we'll take our time, ride at a pace that everyone is comfortable with and stop for breathers if needed. No-one ever gets left behind!
HOT WEATHER: as temperatures are likely to be high, please ensure you bring two full bottles of water with electrolytes added. There are several opportunities to refill bottles along the way, so there is no need to ration your water and you should drink frequently. If you are unable to use your bottle while riding, please let the organiser know so that regular drink stops can be included.
COVID-19 PRECAUTIONS
Please do not attend if you have COVID symptoms (new, persistent cough; fever; loss of sense of smell or taste) or if any of your household has symptoms or is isolating. Maintain social distance throughout the ride, including at the start/finish and the café stop - all participants must maintain a distance of 2 m from others while stationary and 1 m while riding. Bring a facemask for use at the café stop.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR PARTICIPANTS
It is recommended that all participants wear a helmet. Please make sure you wear appropriate clothing for the weather.
You are expected to have ensured your bike is roadworthy and to have carried out basic pre-ride checks; it is recommended that you also carry at least one spare inner tube, a pump (CO2 inflators are also highly recommended). If you have a mechanical problem we will do our best to assist you and/or lend you an inner tube or repair kit if we can, but it is always best to be self-reliant. Don’t forget to bring money for refreshments and a mobile phone.
