Starting from outside the Historic Chatham Dockyard, we start by heading around st. Mary's island with views across the River Medway to Upnor Castle and the Village of Hoo. We then leave the shared pathway and use the cycle lanes to negotiate St. Marys Island. This part of the ride is fantastic for identifying bike skills and looking for signs of how Medways cycle network looks. We leave the island and have two options. We with er go along the flat route to the hidden pond near the mast and rigging or we follow the Historic Dockyard Trail up through the lines and to the Chatham War Memorial Statue. Whichever route we choose, the route back to the start point will be flat.

Cycle paths and shared pathways. Flat route - 100% cycle paths Historic Dockyard trail - 90% cycle paths

Any that is required, we do cross quite a few roads so be prepared to stop frequently.

Helmet is essential.

This ride is aimed at people who are newer to cycling and want the confidence to explore the surrounding area.
