Starting point

NP44 3YS

This route is HILLY. We leave the stadium and ride up the canal to Two Locks, doubling back along Garth Road ( slight hill) and arriving at the Hollybush roundabout, steady climb up to the Henllys way roundabout, left up Henllys way, a steady climb all the way to Henllys village. Turn left onto Ty Canol way for the hardest section, quite a climb :(. Drop down onto Ty Gwyn road where we will follow the road towards Thornhill , then Upper Cwmbran dropping down to Pontnewydd, picking up the canal opposite Five locks. So yes its hilly for the first half but its all downhill for the second half. Don't worry we'll never leave you behind and remember if we don't do hills we won't get any fitter!

This ride is for the more confident riders who don't mind cycling on the roads. The roads are not busy but here will be occasions when you should drop to single file.
Route suits all bikes but if you have a lighter road bike then this will help you up the hills.

Don't forget bring your helmet, spare cash, snacks and drink and check your bike over before you come, pump up the tyres, bring a spare inner tube and any tools you need and please don't come if you are experiencing any Covid symptoms.
Hope to see you there.

A hilly ride around the roads of Cwmbran

Mostly roads for the first 5 miles, 3 miles on canal paths or cycle route

Bring a drink and snacks in case as we're not planning a cafe stop. However, have some loose change in case we see a possible stop.
