An evening ride to spot the Christmas lights in different places in London and take in the Christmas spirit all around. You need to be confident in traffic as we cycle through some busy roads. IMPORTANT: you MUST bring fully charged front and rear lights. Reflective clothes are also recommended. Christmas attire is optional but very welcome. This is a long ride (in time, rather than mileage).

We start by heading to Wembley Park to see Winterfest. For those who are coming from the North of Brent or beyond, we will have a second meeting point here in front of Boxpark at 15.45.

We then start making our way to Central London to Oxford Street, South Molton Street, New and Old Bond Street, Piccadilly, Regent Street, Carnaby Street, and Trafalgar Square, where we will get a break for a hot beverage as we cross the market at the square, and use the toilets.

We continue to Covent Garden, Seven Dials, and our last stop at Granary Square in King’s Cross. After that, those who prefer not to cycle the rest of the route back home will be able to take their bikes on the Metropolitan Line or Rail trains from King’s Cross Station, or the Overground from Euston. For those who carry on, we make our way back home cycling a small section of the Outer Circle at Regent’s Park and have one last glimpse of the lights at St. John’s Wood High Street.

Although we cycle at a steady pace, especially in some busy roads, this is not a hurried ride and we stop at each one of the locations mentioned above for quick pictures. Our only food stop is Trafalgar Square, so you may want to bring snacks.

Helmets aren't compulsory but highly advisable. Please wear a mask if entering a busy indoor space like a toilet or coffee shop, unless you are exempt. Wear layers that you can add on or remove as you go along, and make sure that you wear very warm gloves and shoes so the cold doesn’t spoil your tour. Unless the weather takes a nasty turn making it unsafe or unpleasant to cycle, this ride will go ahead even if it rains – bring waterproofs.

Places are limited and sometimes get booked up with a waiting list. If you develop Covid-19 symptoms or have been told to self-isolate before the ride, or can't make it for any other reason, please ensure to cancel your space so someone else can join.
