A varied route to Freshfield, home of the red squirrel reserve

Mostly quiet back roads, and mostly national cycle routes. Including parts of the Trans-Pennine Trail and a short section of canal towpath around Burscough. We may, or may not use the Fishermans Path out of Freshfield depending on condition.

Lunch stop at Kitty's cafe in Freshfield.

Helmets are always advisable but NOT compulsory. Lights a good idea as it may be starting to get dark when we arrive back.

We never leave anyone behind
