Starting point

Lancashire
PR7 1EA

Route commences at Astley Park gates.
Passing down Market Street then up George St., Lyons Lane and Brook St. to ride down Cowling Brow and Long Lane to Grimeford Lane. From here you skirt Blackrod via Little Scotland to Wigan Golf Club; then Standish, Hunger Hill and Wrightington, returning to Chorley via Charnock Richard.
There are some gentle hills on the route, notably Grimeford lane, which is a bit of a drag, but none are especially steep. Arley lane is quite rough in parts. It is doable on a standard road bike with care, but heavier duty tyres are ideal.
Total distance is 20 miles.

A ride through mixed scenery, country and urban.

Mostly quiet back roads and lanes with some urban streets.

Stops only as required.

Helmets are always advisable, but NOT compulsory. Please bring the usual emergency tools and puncture repair equipment. Daytime running or emergency lights are a good idea for evening rides. *We recommend all participants carry emergency contact details about their person*.
