A gentle ride starting in beautiful Bute Park at the Summerhouse Cafe, following the River Taff down to Cardiff Bay, where we follow the Cardiff Bay Trail through the Wetlands and along past the restaurants. After crossing the barrage we take the wiggly path to the top of the hill to Penarth. Don't worry, this is traffic-free, not too steep, and we'll stop for a few minutes at the top to admire the view.
In Penarth we join the leafy old railway path down to Cosmeston Lakes and after a loop around the lake, we can stop for coffee and cakes in their cafe before returning along the mostly the same route but staying to the west side of Cardiff Bay to complete the Bay Trail loop on our way back up to Bute Park.
If you need to drive to the start, there is parking available, either in Sophia Gardens just the other side of the river from the start point, or there is free parking available a little further up in the Llandaff Fields and Pontcanna Fields pay & display car parks, which both offer free parking on Sunday.
